THE ENGINEERING TEAM

Eric Plazcek, CTO

Eric Placzek is Chief Technical Officer at DCS specializing in all things IoT. Designing, developing and supporting IoT solutions around fleet management, cold supply chain, heavy machinery, and restaurant establishments. During his time at DCS he played a key role in scaling the businesses technical product portfolio,  growing a team of engineers,  developing internal software and directing DCS into the future for growth.  Eric has previously held Systems Test Engineer at 7Layers and Applications Engineering roles at CalAmp and DCS.  

Eric earned his Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering and Masters Degree in Computer Engineering from the University of California State Polytechnic Pomona, graduating in 2012 and 2017 respectively – specializing in wireless and embedded systems.  

Eric enjoys traveling with his wife, Paige and two dogs; Oliver and Coco. His hobbies include racing cars and competing in USPSA shooting.

Hien Lau, SENIOR FAE

Hien Lau is Senior Applications Engineer at DCS specializing in all things IoT and Engineering. Designing, developing and supporting IoT solutions around fleet management, asset management, and engineering. During his time at DCS he has contributed to building customer relationships, technical advisory opportunities and expansion of the engineering portfolio offered at DCS.  Hien has previously held positions as Test Engineer I/II at various companies with a specialty in DVT, ATE, Integration/Interoperability, and DFM, in the wireless industry.  

Hien earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering at San Diego State University, graduating in 2005 respectively – specializing in wireless communications and hardware systems.

Hien grew up in the in Southern California and enjoys traveling, food, music, and film. His interests include watches, cars, and reading up on exciting new technologies.

Tyronne Cannon, FAE

Tyrone Cannon is a Field Applications Engineer at DCS and specializes in integrating hardware and software. He is also proficient at designing and developing end-to-end IOT solutions, managing customers, and completing multi-faceted projects. While at DCS, Tyrone has helped several customers get solutions up and running. His expertise in IOT has been invaluable in building customers’ proficiency and instilling confidence in DCS. Previous work experience includes Field Application Engineering at CalAmp where he was involved in several high profile projects and initiatives, Solutions Architecture at Tech Mahindra, and Electrical Engineering at Lockheed Martin where he was part of the Engineering Leadership Development Program.

Tyrone’s academic background is in Electrical Engineering. He obtained his Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and his Masters of Science in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina A&T State University. He was born and raised in Charlotte, NC. Growing up in the South instilled in him strong values and ethics, sense of family, and Southern hospitality.

In his free time, Tyrone enjoys exercising, baking/cooking, and listening to his vinyl collection. He also enjoys hosting legendary game nights.

Justin HUTCHENS, SOFWARE DEVELOPER

Justin Hutchens is the Principal Software Developer at Direct Communications Solutions and brings over a decade of experience of using technology in enterprise level environments. While at Direct Communications Solutions he has implemented a variety of software applications all of which have been used to successfully increase the overall capacity of technical operations within the company while improving the level of quality associated with technical processes performed on equipment. He has a deep and serious passion for increasing business productivity and generating new business opportunities through the use of technology. Using this passion he’s driven the growth and development of the technical infrastructure of Direct Communications Solutions ensuring that the company is harnessing the latest technologies available in order to be competitive in today’s fast paced technological landscapes.

Graduating from Central Texas College in 2008 while serving in the United States Navy as an Information Technician Justin has had received multiple technical certifications in advanced computer system security and advanced network administration.

Born and raised in Colorado, Justin enjoys spending his time being outdoors and exploring under the California sun. His favorite activities include driving up the 101, riding his bicycle around Mission Bay and hiking trails around Balboa park near where he lives.
