Buying CalAmp: Understanding the Process

WARNING – Before you begin

CalAmp GPS Devices require a significant investment to develop the device configurations (PEGScripts) to program the device to work as you intend it to work and as your software application is expecting. It is highly recommended that your organization dedicates the proper time and resources to ensure both the device and server side programs utilize “best practices” when deploying this equipment.

Before you begin, it is suggested you have a budget, adequate time and device programming experience to allocate to your project.

STEP 1

Prior to your first CalAmp purchase your company is required to complete the CalAmp Non-Disclosure Agreement. This agreement is a requirement in order for your organization be granted access to the PULs Device Management Portal.

STEP 1: Click the link to access the CalAmp Non-Disclosure Agreement.

STEP 2: Download and Print the CalAmp NDA form.

STEP 3: Completely fill out the CalAmp NDA form and Sign.

STEP 4: Scan finished document and Save as PDF

STEP 5: Rename PDF file in the following format (yourcompanyname_calamp_NDA.pdf) and Save.

STEP 6: Upload the document using the form on the right.

Once submitted, your CalAmp Account Application will be reviewed. Once approved, you will receive an email notification of acceptance and account credentials to access the PULs Device Managament Portal.

CalAmp’s Technical Documentation can be located here. It is an excellent resource for your development team to select product, receive technical support and understand device configuration.

If your business does not have the technical resources to program and develop device configurations (PEGScripts), our team is available for you to outsource your development.

STEP 4

It is important to understand the flexibility in CalAmp’s product line, it can be overwhelming to ensure the correct wiring harness is purchased. Be certain you take the time to define what you are trying to achieve with the hardware and plan your deployment. Be sure to consider future proofing your solution by selecting wiring harnesses that allow you to expand the features of your device installation.

Each product page in the Marketplace includes a Compatible Accessories section where wiring harnesses are clearly define. The CalAmp Wiki is also an excellent resource for cable layouts and design documents.

STEP 5

Your device selection process should also include a complete review of which accessories are compatible with each device series. Why not offer your customers the most flexible and robust solution possible – consider accessories to aid in the following:

Every CalAmp device is an open sandbox for developers – they are the most intelligent “GPS BRICKS” on the marketing. Many companies are equipped with the technical expertise and assign the development of device configurations to internally resources.

In the event your organization does not have the technical resources, do not worry – we are here to help. Our engineering department is highly skilled in the programming and development of device configurations (PEGScripts) and our team available to help you get to market in a timely manner within a budget that is more cost effective than higher a dedicated resource.
